New Malden has never been short of good houses. Tree-lined avenues. 1930s semis. Quiet cul-de-sacs with long gardens and driveways you can actually park in. But even the best homes can start to feel tight. A new baby. A teenager who needs their own space. A kitchen that’s seen too many winters. You don’t need to move. You just need to rethink what you’ve already got.
We are local builders who work with care. No noise for the sake of it. No sales pitch. Just proper building work that gives you space where it matters—upstairs, out the back, or both.
There’s a surprising amount of space sitting under New Malden’s pitched roofs. You just can’t see it yet.
A dormer conversion is the most common option here. It’s practical, neat, and turns that sloping attic into a proper room. With full-height ceilings, decent windows, and space for a bed, desk or both—it’s a no-fuss way to add real living space.
If your house has a sloping roof on the side, which is common on many corner plots and detached homes, a hip-to-gable loft conversion might be the right fit. It changes the shape of the roof to add more volume and makes room for a full staircase.
For those who want the most room—and are happy to tackle the paperwork—a mansard conversion gives you a near-vertical back wall and a full extra storey. It takes time, but it pays off if you’re planning to stay long-term.
And if your loft already has good height, a Velux conversion might be enough. Add windows, flooring, insulation—and suddenly you’ve got a quiet, airy room that works for whatever you need.
The problem with most homes isn’t the number of rooms. It’s the way they’re laid out. Too narrow. Too dark. Too closed off. A home extension can change all of that—without going far.
A rear extension is a solid option, especially with the long gardens found throughout New Malden. It gives you space to cook, eat, work and still see the kids out the back. It doesn’t need to be massive to make a big difference.
If you’ve got a narrow side passage, a side return extension makes it useful. That wasted walkway turns into extra kitchen space, a boot room, or even a little snug. It’s one of those changes that’s easy to forget—until you live with it.
For bigger plans, a wraparound extension is the way to go. Side and rear together. It opens the whole back of the house and gives you a layout that works for now, not for 1953.
Need another bedroom upstairs as well? A two-storey extension gives you double the space in one build. It’s practical, especially for growing families or anyone thinking long-term.
We know New Malden. We know the houses, the styles, the planning quirks. And we know how to build something that fits right in.
If your house isn’t working the way it should, you don’t have to leave it behind. Let us build the space it’s been missing.
